Government ask: scope and fund a complete grounds improvement package including surface remediation, soil and drainage works, irrigation, an athletics track, lighting, and upgraded AFL and soccer goals.
The current problem
The oval surface is worn, uneven and unsafe in parts, including areas where rocks protrude through the turf. Its condition limits daily physical education, lunchtime play and organised sport, and prevents the school from making full use of one of its largest outdoor assets.
For the past three years, CNPS has been unable to safely host interschool AFL 9s matches. Other schools must travel to external venues, creating cost, organisational complexity and avoidable time away from learning.
A complete, durable solution
Surface repair alone will not secure a reliable long-term outcome. The project should assess soil and drainage, provide dependable irrigation, upgrade goals, add a basic athletics track and include practical lighting for safe winter use. The final scope should be designed as one durable package.
School and community benefit
- Safer PE, lunchtime activity, athletics, cross-country, football and soccer.
- The ability to host interschool sport on site again.
- Less travel cost, staff coordination and learning time lost to external venues.
- Managed access for junior programs and affordable community sport outside school hours.
- A daily return on investment for students, unlike an off-site facility.
An upgraded precinct would help CNPS operate as a genuine community hub while protecting school access and ensuring the strongest benefit remains with students.
